Vintage Italian Ceramic Greyhound Lion Hollywood Regency Staffordshire Mantel Pair Figurine
Item Description:
Up for sale is a striking, highly collectible vintage mid-century modern pair of Italian ceramic animal figurines. Beautifully inspired by 19th-century English Staffordshire flatback pottery, this whimsically coordinated mantel set includes one (1) recumbent Greyhound/Whippet and one (1) recumbent Medici-style Lion.
Rather than a traditional matching set of the exact same animal, this pair features two different species styled with identical design DNA. They share matching vibrant grass-green mound bases and bold orange-red accents—a classic Hollywood Regency design strategy meant to frame a fireplace mantel, sideboard, or console table with curated, balancing symmetry.
🌴 Regional Florida Provenance
Both figurines retain their original vintage gold foil boutique labels on the underside from Van Swedens Interiors. Van Swedens was a legendary, high-end interior design showroom located on Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach, Florida, operating as a staple for luxury coastal and estate decor throughout the mid-20th century.
