Paul Bowles – A Little Stone
London: John Lehmann Ltd., 1950. Third Impression. Hardcover in original pictorial dust jacket designed by noted British artist Keith Vaughan.
This copy is personally inscribed and signed by Paul Bowles on the half-title:
“for Alexandra Roscoe / Paul Bowles”
A Little Stone was Bowles’ first collection of short fiction and followed his celebrated novel The Sheltering Sky. The collection includes twelve stories and is one of Bowles’ important early works.
The original Keith Vaughan dust jacket is present, with the rear panel identifying this copy as the Third Impression.
Condition: Vintage copy in very good overall condition for its age. Original dust jacket remains bright and attractive, showing light edge wear, rubbing and minor age-related wear, particularly at corners and spine ends. Jacket rear panel has some toning/spotting. Hardcover binding remains intact. Pages show age toning and scattered foxing, particularly to endpapers/edges. Signed inscription is bold and clearly legible. Please examine all photographs closely, as they form an important part of the condition description.
A particularly desirable copy because of the combination of the original Keith Vaughan jacket and Paul Bowles’ personal inscription/signature.
