This is a string-bound portfolio of photographs ofAlaska from circa 1898. The photographshave a beautiful sepia tone and lots of detail. Each has a caption beneath.
There are12 pages of photographs.The page measures 7x5.5inches (18 x 14 cm). The full-page photos measure approximately 5.5 x 4 inches (14 x 10 cm).
Produced by the Albertype Company as a set of mechanical photogravure prints. It is undated (for some reason the date was scratched off long ago when it was resold by WC Waters in Wrangell. But based on similar Alaska books in my collection and the quality of the prints, it likely dates from 1890-1905.
