Charles MacKay\'s Memoirs of Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds is an extraordinary collection of articles about many \"delusions\" in history. The first three chapters are still cited for his discussion of economic \"bubbles.\" Other chapters discuss the crusades of the middle ages, the changes in shapes of men\'s beards. fortune telling, prophecies, and a host of other strange chapters in history. This is a fine, near-mint copy of the 1852 Second Edition. The leather covers are near-flawless. The front board of Volume I is very slightly loose. Otherwise the boards and text blocks are tight. The only marking I have found is a light pencil price in Volume I. The pages in both volumes are tight enough to appear unread. I strongly suspect that the book was bought and stored, unread, for over a century.
