Original June 22, 1945 typed identification/travel permit (Ausweis) issued by the commandant of Lager C5 at Kaps. The document was made out to Stabsgefreiter Bernhard Hirschberg of 2./Infanterie-Regiment 35 and authorized his travel from Kaps to Peiss and back. The stated purpose was "Milchfahren zur Molkerei" (transporting milk to the dairy). It bears a circular official camp seal and is signed by a Hauptmann (Captain). A scarce and interesting immediate postwar occupation-era document connected to a former Wehrmacht NCO only weeks after the end of the war.
