RARE Antique Stern-McCarthy Prostatic Electrotome Visual System w/ Wooden Case:
$200.00
This is a Stern-McCarthy prostatic electrotome. McCarthy visual system made in the USA around the 1930’s You can clearly see through the scope. It includes the tool that would be inserted inside one of the 3 tubes to be inserted into the urethra (it looks scary and is as big as my pinky. Then the other tool with the scope would be inserted to see the prostrate. There is one light bulb included with the kit but no power supply. Then this other contraption would have one of the 6 rods with a loop on the end inserted and heated up to cut away and cauterize part of the prostrate causing an obstruction I assume.
Everything is in great shape. Could probably use a good polishing. The wood box is scratched up as you can see in the photos. The hinges and lock are in good shape. I suggest googling the info from the picture of the metal label in the lid. This is a rare collectors item and there will not be any returns. The AI has some interesting info about this item. I also have a couple other kits similar but not like this. If you are interested in buying the lot please let me know and I’ll send you the info. I have 3 other similar style endo/cystoscopes. I’ve been thinking about finding a museum to loan or donate them to. They are all really impressive. Also the other two scopes can be seen through too. This sale is final, no returns. Please be sure to do your research on it and make sure you want it before you buy it. Thanks
