This listing is for ONE Reticon RL1024SAF fiber optically coupled self scanned photodiode array with 1024 photo sites (pixels). Unlike other CCD or self scanned photodiode arrays, this one has a fiber optic plate optically/mechanically bonded to the silicon die. In doing so the image plane is coupled directly to the photodiode array. These arrays are commonly coupled to image intensifiers. That way the intensifier image is coupled directly to the array without the need (and huge loss) of coupling optics. Coupling efficiencies for fiber optic arrays like these approach 70% as opposed to relay lenses with an attendant 5% to maybe 8% efficiency.
