First up on the Vintage Release: A 1964 Bulova Accutron, known as the Spaceview: one of the best time pieces ever made, an early military timepiece commission. This is a factory crafted, Platinum & Gold Spaceview luxury watch. This vintage model was commissioned by the US Navy, prior to the 1960s, and was used for national survey needs, where perfect time was a needed component. The US Navy wanted Swiss quality movement, by a US Company, and a Swiss movement engineer was brought in. He created a non-quartz, mechanically driven watch that for the first time in history, runs off of a perfectly tuned tuning fork, operated by a battery. A perfect note keeps the watch humming, and although the musical note is battery generated, the watch is not. You can place the watch to your ear and hear the sweet, constant musical tone. Keeps perfect time, with no winding. The secondhand swoops and does not tick, this is actually one of the best mechanical watches ever invented! They were incredibly popular by 1959, and some of the jewelers began taking the face off, and adding gold and platinum parts, and calling it a "window space view model", to advertise and draw in customers. The new idea was so hot, that Boluva began to produce the open face with gold & platinum embellishments, in 1960, and this is one of the rare models produced between 1960 and 1965. This frame has lots of stainless steel parts, but the bezel is gold and the middle strip on the original band is also gold filled. Lastly, the watch's primary working parts are made of platinum. This is what is known as the Gold & Platinum Spaceview, two tone model. It is one of the most recently sought after, customized Spaceviews ever released by Boluva!

This skeleton movement, battery-powered, F# tone note operated, modern mechanical watch became one of the most popular designs seen, in American history. The 34mm steel case with the gold-filled bezel has a screw down back with fold down crown to set the time, see-through dial with signature jade movement, alpha hands with center second sweep hand, Accutron OEM crystal, brown leather alligator strap with tang buckle, and the original high end, factory gold and steel band. Movement is working. The battery has run down on this. I do not want to invest the $500 into getting it "set up" again. I don't wear it often enough. I'd rather pull the money out. The new model is $31,000. The old models typically go for $4,500 to $7,500, and a particularly rare model like this can hit as much as $9,500. I'm gonna let it go for $3500 because it needs to be brought in, to be set up again (new battery, time set - please, it must be done by an authorized technician). It was most recently set up about 10 years ago. $3,500 takes it! $3,000 - but only if it's the day I listed it here! Go ahead and offer $3000.
