An exceptional and rare 3-piece Gorham Martelé sterling silver youth place setting, consisting of a fork, knife and spoon. Each piece is hand wrought and bears the Gorham Martelé mark and .9584 silver standard.
According to the Gorham Martelé production records, all three pieces were completed on March 20, 1916, and were created by silversmith Frederick Avery with the assistance of a boy apprentice. The surviving production records document the individual making and chasing time as well as the original net cost for each piece. They are chased with the floral, leaf and thistle pattern.
According to the Gorham records, they made 44 youth forks, 44 youth knives and 101 youth spoons. Having the set still intact is a rare find.
