A magnificent Continental Wanderer from the 1930s — a beautifully preserved pre-war portable typewriter representing one of the great periods of German mechanical engineering.
Manufactured by Wanderer-Werke, Continental typewriters were renowned for their precision, durability, and exceptionally high standard of construction. Built during an era when mechanical machines were expected to serve for decades, the Wanderer combines serious engineering with the elegant industrial design of the interwar period.
Its original glossy black enamel finish, delicate gold Continental lettering, chrome details, and classic round keys give the machine an unmistakable pre-war character. The restrained Art Deco influence can be seen throughout the design, creating a typewriter that feels both purposeful and remarkably elegant nearly a century after it was produced.
The Wanderer was designed as a genuinely portable writing instrument without sacrificing the solidity expected from a full working machine. Its all-metal construction provides excellent stability, while the precise mechanism delivers a smooth, controlled, and satisfying typing experience.
The original vintage metal ribbon spools have been preserved — an increasingly uncommon detail and a particularly appealing feature for collectors. The machine also offers black/red ribbon selection, allowing text to be typed in either Shows normal signs of careful use, with minor cosmetic wear possible (see photos). Fully functional. Professionally cleaned, serviced, adjusted, and thoroughly tested. Equipped with a brand-new ribbon and ready for immediate use.
The original carrying case is included. The case remains functional, although its handle is missing.
