Original Signed Artwork & Preliminary Study by Piero Ottinetti
Offered for sale is an exceptional original signed gouache painting by renowned Italian artist and commercial designer Piero Ottinetti (1927–2018). This listing includes both the finished original painting and its original preliminary pencil study, providing a rare opportunity to own the complete creative process from concept to final artwork.
Piero Ottinetti was an accomplished Italian commercial artist and illustrator whose career included work for several major Italian companies, including Pirelli, as well as numerous advertising, branding, and graphic design projects. His original artwork is increasingly appreciated by collectors of Italian commercial art, illustration, and Mid-Century Modern design.
The reverse of the finished artwork bears handwritten inscriptions reading:
DON GIOVANNI
TESTA DI PIETRO
IL CONVITATO DI PIETRA
These references strongly suggest the artwork was created as a conceptual study inspired by the legendary story of Don Giovanni and Il Convitato di Pietra ("The Stone Guest"), making this an especially desirable piece for collectors of Italian art, theater, opera, and modernist design.
Both artworks were acquired directly from the Estate of Piero Ottinetti in Waukegan, Illinois, providing outstanding provenance.

- Original signed gouache painting
- Original preliminary pencil study (matching composition)
- One-of-a-kind original works
