Unusual antique metal wire-loop flower frog / floral arranger in a very large oval form. This is an especially impressive example, substantially larger and heavier than the more commonly encountered round wire-loop flower frogs.
Heavy oval metal base retains much of its wonderful original green painted finish, with numerous individually formed wire loops rising above it. The wires can be gently positioned/adjusted to support flower stems at different heights and angles. Beautiful sculptural appearance even when displayed without flowers.
Measurements: base approximately 5 1/2” wide x 3 1/4” deep. Wire arrangement extends to approximately 9” wide as currently positioned. Weight is approximately 2 lbs. 3 oz.
Condition: Good antique condition with an excellent aged surface. Original green paint remains largely intact with expected paint loss, oxidation/rust, surface wear and patina from age and use. There is a small crack/separation at one area of the outer base, shown clearly in the close-up photographs. It may be associated with the original casting/manufacturing, but I cannot say with certainty, so it is being noted. The piece remains solid and displays beautifully.
No maker’s mark located, but I believe this to be the large Talavera model. Please see all photographs for construction, condition and scale. Small flower frog shown in one photograph is for size reference only and is not included.
