Offered for your consideration is a Vintage Peacock Jewelers 100th Anniversary (1837-1937) Brass Commemorative Token featuring the conjoined busts of Elijah and Charles Daniel Peacock on one side and opposite side has an embedded fragment of actual steel from the store's fireproof vault that survived the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 (see below brief explanation) with designs of Fort Dearborn 1830 and Worlds Columbian Expo 1893. It measures 31mm diameter, 1.5mm thick and weighs 10.2 grams.
BRIEF EXPLANATION:
The small piece of steel embedded is a souvenir of the Chicago Fire of 1871 which was cut from the Peacock Vault that withstood the flames and is at present in daily use
