This piece is a print based off an original sign, the print was made locally in Honolulu, Hawaii. This sign is the creation of artist Steve Neill out of Hilo on the Island of Hawaii. Each sign is completely hand crafted in a nine step process. Each sign must be cut and shaped by hand, usually out of Masonite, although some signs are made out of pine wood. Then comes the various layers of sealant and paint that give the sign its bright colors and sturdy weather resistance, just like the signs of old. Once the signs are painted Steve then uses a weathering process which gives each sign a unique vintage look.
