Instruction :There are many ways to grow seeds. You can grow them in trays first or you can sow the seeds in the plot. Sowing seeds in the plot may not have a good germination rate. Even when the seedlings have sprouted, they may have to face extreme heat, rain, or cold weather, which can easily kill the seedlings that are about to grow. For the seed growing process for beginners, I recommend starting in trays first so that the seeds that sprout are strong enough before we put them in the plot. That means we have the opportunity to select weak plants and select only the strong ones for planting. Taking care of them after this is easier because they have been selected before being planted outdoors. And we can apply it to any type of seeds. Let\'s get started.
1. Choose a place to grow. In this case, it could be a greenhouse with sunlight in the morning. Choose a place far from pets such as ducks, chickens, or if it is really necessary to raise animals, you can find a net to surround the growing area. And it should be well-ventilated.
2. Prepare seeds, soil and seed trays. The trays here can be holes, small basins, planting trays or egg trays, whichever is more convenient. Also, check that they can drain well. Seeds can be purchased at agricultural supply stores. See if they need to be soaked in water first or can be planted right away, and how long it takes to plant until harvest. Finally, soil can be purchased from a plant shop or you can make your own soil for planting. The ingredients are:
1 part soil, 1 part black rice husk1 part fine coconut huskMix well and then prepare the soil in the trays. Or you can choose to use a good quality seedling growing material, such as peat moss, which is moss debris that has been accumulated for thousands of years. Good sources are usually imported from Europe, such as Germany, Lithuania, and Austria.
3. Sowing seeds. I use the method of planting in a mixed planting tray before moving them to a hole tray. I sprinkle the seeds into the planting tray without clumping or spreading them too much. I use my hands to pat the seeds into the soil and cover them with a thin layer of soil. Water until moist. Place in a well-ventilated area. You should also write a label with the date of sowing to count the harvest time.
Tips for watering in a fine mist We can pierce a hole in the bottle with a needle to get a fine mist of water.
4. Place it in a shady area with sunlight. Water it morning and evening until moist. After about 20-24 hours, some seeds will start to sprout. Some types may take 24-48 hours to sprout.
5. Let it get weak sunlight in the morning between 06.00-10.00, which is the best morning light for plant growth. Taking care of water is also important. Check the soil to make sure it is consistently moist but not too wet.
6. Seedlings will start to sprout after 4-5 days. At this point, you can give them liquid fertilizer, but if you don’t have any, it’s okay.
7. On the 6th-7th day, move the seedlings to the trays. Select the weak ones and leave only the strong ones. Put the soil in the trays neatly. The method is to use a spoon to dig up the roots and use the tip of the spoon to level the soil until only the roots are left. When handling the seedlings, be careful not to break the roots. Place the roots in the center of the hole and use a toothpick to press the roots into the hole so that the plant is upright. Do this until you have finished 1 tray. Water it until it is moist and leave it for 1 night. Water it morning and evening until it is moist and continue until the 2nd week.
Tips: Transplanting seedlings should be done in the evening because the air will not be hot and the seedlings will be able to hatch at night. As for coated seeds, they can be planted directly on the tray because the germination percentage is higher than the uncoated type.
8. Take them out to receive light. In the 3rd week, they will start to have real leaves. Now, they can be taken out to receive sunlight all day with a shade cloth covering the top. As for me, I planted Reccolon and Red Oak lettuce seeds. When they are exposed to sunlight during this period, the leaves will start to turn red according to the variety that I am planting. I give liquid fertilizer every other day, alternating with plain water. At the end of the 3rd week, you can transfer the vegetable seedlings to the plot or you can also put them in pots.
9. Transplant to the plot At the end of the 3rd week, transplant the seedlings to the plot. We prepare the plot by making rows and digging holes wide enough for the seedlings. Use the tip of a spoon to poke the seedlings out of the holes and place them in the plot. Use a moderate amount of soil to support the plant so it doesn\'t fall over. When handling the seedlings, be careful not to break the plant and roots apart. Water them morning and evening until they are moist.
10. Take care of them closely and wait for the harvest day by fertilizing them 1-2 times/week, removing weeds and counting the time until harvest. From here, take care of insect pests by using fermented water to repel insects. As for the salad that I grow, it takes 50-60 days to harvest. Now we have delicious vegetables to eat.
And these are the 10 steps to start growing seeds that I have selected especially for you.
