More Information The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date Ref. 15000, introduced around 1980, marked the transition of the classic Rolex Date into the modern five-digit reference era.
A major historical advancement was the adoption of the Caliber 3035, bringing the quickset date function and a higher-beat movement to the collection.
The Ref. 15000 retained the traditional 34mm proportions, distinguishing the Rolex Date from its larger 36mm Datejust sibling.
Its production was relatively brief before Rolex introduced the next generation of Date references, making the 15000 an interesting transitional model.
Today, collectors increasingly value original, unpolished examples with untouched dials, matching components and attractive natural patina.
