Roman Republic C. Antestius AR Denarius 146 BC Dioscuri Dog Crawford 219/1e For Sale

Obverse depicts the helmeted head of Roma facing right, with C·ANTESTI behind and denomination mark X near/below the chin.

Reverse depicts the Dioscuri, Castor and Pollux, galloping right on horseback, with the distinctive dog or puppy running beneath the horses and ROMA in the exergue.

Approximately 18 mm in diameter and 4.19 grams.

The coin appears to have been cleaned and/or polished at some point in the past and exhibits surface scratches, roughness and areas of porosity consistent with its age and prior cleaning. Please review the enlarged photographs carefully for condition.
