Up for sale is a rare, complete 1847 edition of S. Augustus Mitchell’s historical and geographical work, "A General View of the World."**Condition Notes:**
- **Binding / Cover:** The original, beautifully detailed embossed covers and spine label are present but detached from the internal text block. The spine shows heavy wear, rubbing, and chipping as pictured.
- **Interior:** The internal text block remains intact. All pages are present, including the signature multi-hemisphere maps and numerous historical engravings.
- **Paper Quality:** Typical mid-19th-century foxing (brown spotting) and age-toning are present throughout, but the text and illustrations remain perfectly legible.This is an excellent candidate for professional rebinding/restoration, a beautiful shelf display piece, or a valuable source for salvaging authentic 1840s maps and engravings.
