Detailed DescriptionAbout the ArtworkUp for sale or buy-it-now is an incredibly rare, authentic Artist Proof (AP) screen print by world-renowned street artist Shepard Fairey. Titled \"Riot Cop\", this iconic 1999 image features a striking, stylized riot police officer set against a bold red and black bullseye target background. [1, 2]The piece features a text bubble with the raw, confrontational title phrase, perfectly encapsulating Fairey\'s early, aggressive institutional critique of authority figures, systemic power dynamics, and state force. It is hand-signed and designated as an AP (Artist Proof) in pencil along the bottom edge, making it highly coveted by street art collectors worldwide. [1, 2]The Artist\'s Philosophy (Obey Blog Quote)Regarding the core concept behind this aggressive and challenging imagery, Shepard Fairey has famously noted:\"Art should be about a visceral connection first, then an intellectual connection second. [The image of a riot cop wielding a baton with the message \'I\'m going to kick your ass and get away with it\'...] questioned the unopposed supremacy of the powerful. My art says it is time not to \'Obey\' but instead to act.\" [1]Condition & Provenance
