Quinn was a distinguished military intelligence officer who headed the Strategic Services Unit during the crucial postwar transition from the OSS and later served as the first deputy director of the Defense Intelligence Agency. Richard Helms rose from wartime and postwar intelligence service to become Director of Central Intelligence. Their professional connection gives this copy significance far beyond that of an ordinarily signed military memoir.
The book recounts Quinn’s intelligence and military career before, during, and after World War II and the Korean War, including his experiences with major military, political, and intelligence figures.
Provenance: This copy came to the seller through material associated with veteran CIA officer William J. Hood, formerly executive officer of James Jesus Angleton’s Counterintelligence Staff and later Richard Helms’s credited collaborator on A Look Over My Shoulder. The Helms presentation inscription is clearly shown in the photographs.
