ABOUT SIX-ARMED MAHAKALA
Six-Armed Mahakala is a powerful Dharmapala (Dharma Protector), traditionally regarded as a wrathful manifestation of Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezig), the Bodhisattva of Compassion.
Although his appearance is fierce, Mahakala represents compassionate protection, enlightened power, and the removal of obstacles to spiritual practice.
His dark complexion symbolizes the transformative power of wisdom, while his six arms are associated with the Six Perfections (Paramitas) practiced on the path toward enlightenment.
