This radio jumped across my service bench 9-8-2026. It was clean and looked good. I found a defect where it has/had a tiny closed crack that was starting in the top left corner of its back. I sealed off that crack so it will not grow any larger.I connected it to power and the radio worked, but it did not get very loud. That is a typical symptom of an open electrolytic capacitor.Research:
Radiomuseum says this radio was made ’75-’78. These radios use six transistors and one IF stage.Repair:
I disassembled and replaced the two electrolytic capacitors this radio uses. One was open. The radio was repaired.A drop of deox in its volume control, check its earphone jack, check its alignment… reassembled and the radio was back together and working like new.Performance:
Volume control goes smoothly from totally silent to overload loud. For strong local stations it produces a sound that is Clean and Clear.This is a single IF stage design. They are designed to work best for local reception. I tested its range. It tuned KLYC, the oldies station in McMinnville that is about fifty miles away.Condition:
