Antique RPPC – View of Sarver, Pennsylvania
Real photo postcard captioned in the negative \"View, Sarver, Pa.\" The elevated view looks down over a railroad line curving through a cut below the town. Boxcars sit on a siding, one clearly lettered for the NYC & HR (New York Central & Hudson River Railroad), which operated under that name until 1914. Piles of logs and stacked timbers line the tracks. Frame houses and larger two- and three-story buildings line the hillside above, bare trees fill the slopes, and a building roof sits in the foreground. Sarver is a village in Buffalo Township, Butler County, and was a stop on the railroad by the 1890s.
Unposted and unstamped, but addressed in ink to a Miss Millie of Cabot. The friendly message ends \"I must admit you are pretty good at guessing ha. ha.\" and is signed \"Your friend – Frank.\" AZO real photo back with four upward triangles, a style used circa 1904–1918. Pencil notes \"Butler\" and \"5\" on the back.
A nice piece for collectors of Butler County and Pennsylvania topographical postcards, New York Central and early railroad views, or small-town real photo postcards.
