The company was formed to break away from the over-ornate 19th-century styles and revive the elegance of traditional Renaissance glassmaking using a clean, modernist lens.

In 1925, Cappellin and Venini had a falling out and split the company. Paolo Venini went on to create the world-famous Venini & C., while Giacomo Cappellin restructured his furnace into M.V.M. Cappellin & Co. (Maestri VetraiMuranesi)

Though not founders, two legendary artistic directors shaped the identity of M.V.M. Cappellin:Vittorio Zecchin: Served as the initial art director from 1921 to 1926, famously designing the monochrome, blown-glass \"Veronese\" vase which became the company\'s iconic emblem.Carlo Scarpa: The world-renowned architect began his profound journey into glass design at M.V.M.
