Great-looking vintage Sony TC-K2A cassette deck featuring the classic silver face, large analog VU meters, and wood-grain cabinet styling. This is a very attractive 1970s-era Sony deck and would make a nice restoration project or parts unit.
TESTING / CONDITION:
The unit powers on and the transport controls mechanically engage. When PLAY is selected, the internal head/pinch-roller assembly raises into position as it should; however, the reel hubs do not spin.
Fast Forward and Rewind were also tested, and the reel hubs do not turn in either mode.
Because the transport is not moving the reels, I was unable to perform a complete playback or recording test. The exact cause has not been diagnosed, and I have not opened the unit or attempted any internal repairs. It may require belts and/or other mechanical servicing, but no specific repair is being guaranteed. There is a small area of power cord that has electrical tape, power cord may need repair.
COSMETIC CONDITION:
Overall, the deck presents nicely for its age. There are scratches, scuffs, marks and other cosmetic wear consistent with age and previous use. Please review all photos closely for the exact cosmetic condition.
Features include Dolby noise reduction, analog VU meters, tape counter, microphone inputs, headphone output, adjustable recording/output controls and RCA connections.
This unit is being sold AS-IS FOR PARTS OR REPAIR. No guarantee is made regarding any function that could not be fully tested due to the transport issue.
You will receive the exact Sony TC-K2A pictured.
A great candidate for someone who restores vintage Sony cassette equipment or needs a clean-looking donor unit.
