This is a beautiful vintage wood giraffe figurine, hand-carved from a single natural tree branch. This piece features a striking contrast between the raw, deeply textured outer bark—which perfectly mimics the natural webbed pattern of a giraffe's spots—and the smooth, hand-shaved wood underneath forming the head, snout, ears, and accents.Provenance & History: This exceptional piece of anonymous American art was recently acquired from the estate of a dedicated, lifelong folk art collector in the state of Georgia. The expert whittling techniques, handheld knife planes visible on the base of the feet, and the beautifully oxidized, deep amber patina on the exposed wood grains point to a mid-20th-century origin (circa 1950s–1970s). It is a textbook example of Southern Appalachian primitive "twig" or "branch" folk art. It stands approximately 3”w by 4” tall* please look at all photos closely, as they are part of the description.
