This original 12x12 diorama represents a WWII Italian Campaign village courtyard during the Allied advance through central Italy in 1943–1944. Figures are 1/56 or 28mm scale.
Inspired by the rugged stone villages of the Apennines, the scene captures a moment of infantry movement and control amid ruined masonry, collapsed rooflines, and dust-covered ground. This diorama reflects over 20 hours of design, construction, painting, and finishing. All terrain, structures, and details are scratch-built using mixed media and sealed for long-term display. Comparable handcrafted dioramas of this size and complexity are rarely reproduced and are intended for collectors rather than tabletop play.
