I am very excited to welcome you to my Backrooms PINBALL Adventure Game. This was created and compiled on an APPLE IIGS using ORCA/C.This is a fun spin on the Backrooms in a PINBALL game with 10 different levels of pinball tables that match the lore.
The game puts you in the Backrooms where you need to explore and find the exit before the entity finds you or you run out of sanity.I hope you enjoy my game. I am planning on making more Apple II/IIGS games of all types in the future. I am also going to port these games to other consoles depending on how well this goes. This game comes on an 800K 3.5\" floppy disk ready to run from your Apple IIGS GS/OS. I am also including a complete users manual. This game has been fully tested on real hardware, and also on an emulator called Crossrunner.
BackroomsPinball is a 16-color pinball game for the Apple IIGS with ten differenttables, one for each level of the Backrooms. You win a level by shooting theball through its exit door, and you win the game by escaping all ten.
If youare not careful and you noclip out of reality in the wrong areas, you end up inthe Backrooms: the stink of old moist carpet, the madness of mono-yellowwallpaper, the endless hum of fluorescent lights on max, and roughly sixhundred million square miles of randomly segmented empty rooms.
You are notalone down here. The Entity walks the halls, and every flip of theflippers costs you a little sanity. Drink almond water to keep your mindtogether, collect the red exit key, and get out before it catches you.
Here is the requirements in order to play the game:Hardware Compatibility
Minimum requirement:
Apple IIgs or Emulator. This game uses Super Hi-Res graphics mode (320×200, 16 colors), which only exists on the IIgs — it will not run on a II, II+, IIe, or IIc, and it will not run under a plain Apple II emulation mode on the IIgs itself.Component RequirementComputer Apple IIgs — any ROM revision (ROM 0, ROM 01, or ROM 3) is supported.
No IIgs-specific hardware feature beyond standard Super Hi-Res graphics and the Event Manager is used.RAM256KB minimum (the standard configuration on even the earliest ROM 0/1 boards).
The game\'s own working data is modest relative to typical IIgs memory, but your system software (GS/OS, or ProDOS 8/16 if launching outside the Finder) needs its own headroom on top of that.CPU speed Runs at the stock 65816 clock speed (2.8MHz). No accelerator is required. Accelerator Recommended. AppleSqueezer GS, TransWarp GS, Zip GS, or any similar 65816-compatible accelerator will work. The game asks at startup whether one is present and renders the 3D view in finer detail if so. Display Standard IIgs RGB monitor via Super Hi-Res. (If you\'re on an AppleSqueezer GS v2 with its HDMI output option, that should work identically, since it presents the same Super Hi-Res signal.) InputApple IIgs (ADB) keyboard, required. An ADB mouse is optional — only needed if you choose keyboard-and-mouse control at the controls screen; keyboard-only play is fully supported.SoundUses the built-in Apple II speaker click technique only — it does not use the Ensoniq digitized sound chip. Every IIgs can produce this game\'s audio; it will sound like simple tones and clicks, not digitized music or speech.StorageAny ProDOS-formatted, write-enabled volume — 3.5″ floppy, hard drive, CFFA3000 or similar flash storage, RAM disk, etc. Needed to save your game (BACK3D.SAV) and best-time records (SCORES) to the folder you launch from.
Operating environmentThe game is a standalone and should run launched from GS/OS.
About the AppleSqueezer option At startup the game asks: Y AppleSqueezer or N Stock Apple IIgs. This isn\'t asking about one specific product by that exact name only — it\'s asking whether your machine has any accelerator installed. Say Y if you have an AppleSqueezer GS, TransWarp GS, Zip GS, or similar 65816 accelerator card. Say N for a stock, unaccelerated IIgs. Choosing Y renders the 3D first-person view with noticeably finer detail (more vertical strips per frame); choosing N uses a coarser, chunkier rendering tuned to stay responsive at the stock 2.8MHz clock speed.
