Trachycarpus nanus x fortunei is an extremely uncommon hybrid combining two very different members of the Windmill Palm family.
Trachycarpus nanus is the rare dwarf species from the mountains of Yunnan, China, known for staying low to the ground with a mostly subterranean trunk and compact fan leaves. Trachycarpus fortunei is the classic cold hardy Windmill Palm, eventually developing a tall fibrous trunk and full crown of large fan leaves.
Putting the two together makes for a fascinating collector palm with the potential to combine the compact character of nanus with the larger, more vigorous growth of fortunei. Because this is a true seed-grown hybrid, individual plants can show different combinations of characteristics as they mature — part of what makes this cross so interesting.
These are healthy, established plants in 1 gallon pots with strong root systems and are actively growing.
