This is a genuine hand-woven Turkish Hereke pure silk and gold-thread rug, signed “Hereke,” dating to the 1970s.
It features the classic “Garden of Paradise” design—an all-over floral Tree of Life with a central tree full of birds, peacocks, giraffes, leopards, deer, monkeys, and other animals set all with 14k gold threading accents, against a soft ivory field, framed by multiple highly detailed floral and geometric borders. The pure silk pile and gold-thread accents give the rug a luminous, jewel-like quality that shifts beautifully with the light.
