The Confederate Army regulations for officer rank insignia followed the Austrian pattern in use at that time. A single star indicated a Major; two stars were used by Lieutenant Colonels, and a full Colonel wore three stars. These stars were worn on collars and lapels of tunics and other such garments.
These beautiful gold bullion stars are from the unused old stock of the defunct N.S. Meyer Company of New York City. They are 1 1/4\" tall, made of very high quality, and the solid black backing will not unravel like the cheaper-made products from others. Whether you are a serious reenactor or just want the Michael Jackson look, you will not be disappointed by these. I almost forgot the best part! These were made in France by one of the same companies that supplied the Confederacy during the war.
