Here’s a nice piece for the Star Trek collectors out there! This is the original 1995 Playmates U.S.S. Excelsior NCC-2000 from the Star Trek Movie Collection.
The ship is still factory sealed in its original box and has never been removed. It also has the original numbered Collector’s Edition sticker, #011092, on the front.
The Excelsior has always been one of my favorite ship designs from the original movies, and Playmates used their Enterprise-B model so it’s not the most accurate design. This one features lights, several classic Star Trek sound effects, and a display stand inside the box.
The box is in decent shape for being over 30 years old, but it definitely has some shelf wear. There are scuffs along the edges, some corner wear, and a few creases and worn spots. Nothing I’m trying to hide, and I’ve included plenty of pictures so you can see exactly what you’re getting.
One thing worth mentioning: I tried pressing the buttons on the box, but the lights and sounds didn’t come on. I’m assuming the original batteries have finally given up after all these years. Since the box is still sealed, I haven’t opened it to check, so I can’t guarantee the electronics will work with fresh batteries.
I’m leaving this one sealed for the next collector to decide what to do with it.
A nice addition to a vintage Playmates Star Trek collection, especially if you’re a fan of Captain Sulu and the Excelsior.
Thanks for taking a look and feel free to check out my other listings for additional comics and collectibles.
