The product is a limited edition hardcover book titled \"Uniform and Dress of the Army and Navy of The Confederate States\" by Ray Riling and Robert Halter. It is an original publication from 1950\'s/1960\'s, focusing on military and war subjects. The book is in English and was published in New Hope, Pennsylvania. It includes additional items related to the subject matter, making it a valuable collectible for enthusiasts of military history.
The title page carries this as the Publisher/Date:
\"New Hope, Pennsylvania; Ray Riling and Robert Halter at The River House; 1952\" This edition predates the 1960 edition that almost all bibliographies list as being the first reprint. There is also printed on the Copyright page the following text: \"Copyright 1952 by Ray Riling , Printed in the U.S.A.\" The Dedication page (written by Raymond L.J. Riling (no date) that describes the reasoning/history behind this early edition.
There is also a 3 page mimeograph letter written by a gentleman from Richmond, Virginia describing his finding of a daguerre-o-type of a Naval uniform he came across in Richmond, VA in 1962. This gentle man went so far as to draw a sketch of what he presents as the proper 1st Sergeant Chevon for the CSA Uniforms. This gentleman\'s name and date (6-15-58) also gives proof that this copy is a 1950\'s edition. I also will include an original copy of a January 1955 edition of Ray Riling Arms Book for 1955 that describes on page 52 that he was printing an edition \"Strictly limited to only 400 numbered copies,\" and this copy that I am offering for sale is copy 136 as printed on the last page of the book.
