This circa 1955 edition comes from the classic blue-tweed era, with blue illustrated digger endpapers, dark blue topstain and Bill Gillies’ wraparound dust jacket artwork. Both the dust jacket’s Nancy Drew list and the book’s internal Nancy Drew list end with #33 The Witch Tree Symbol, first published in 1955 and these details provide the strongest dating evidence for this printing.Condition
Very Good to good vintage condition. The original dust jacket is in good condition with minor chipping at the top and shelf wear around all edges. Bottom of the back cover has a small tear. Jacket remains fully intact and the colors remain vibrant. The blue tweed cloth boards are very clean and the deep navy blue topstain is strong and sharp. The blue illustrated digger endpapers are clean with light age toning. Front endpaper has a small yellow sticker from The Cottage Bookshop. Binding is strong and fully intact. 208 pages are lightly toned with no foxing and are free from markups, tears, and stains. First two blank pages are lightly creased in the top corner.
