Luang Pu Fan Pasato
Luang Pu Fan Pasatho was born on May 2, 1929, in Tha Tako District, Nakhon Sawan Province. His original name was Fan Sonrabiep. His parents were Mr. Noi and Mrs. Noi Sonrabiep. His father was originally from Khon Kaen Province, where he was a cattle and buffalo trader. He traveled to Tha Tako District, Nakhon Sawan Province, to buy and sell cattle and buffalo, where he met and married Luang Pu Fan\'s mother. They had 11 children, with Luang Pu Fan being the eldest. After completing his primary education at the village school, being inclined towards spirituality, he asked his parents to take him to be ordained as a novice monk. He studied with Luang Pho Derm at Wat Nong Pho for 7 years, serving as an elephant caretaker for Luang Pho Derm. Luang Pho Derm kindly taught him various sciences and instructed him in strict adherence to Buddhist precepts. He also accompanied Luang Pho Derm to many consecration ceremonies of sacred objects in various locations, becoming known as \"Luang Pho Derm\'s Elephant Caretaker Novice.\"
Later, at the age of 23, he requested ordination at Wat Nen Tako, Nakhon Sawan Province, with Phra Khru Thira of Wat Huai Thua Klang, Nong Bua District, Nakhon Sawan Province, as his preceptor, receiving the monastic name Pasatho. After ordination for some time, Luang Pu Fan traveled to see Luang Pho Thob of Wat Phra Bat Chon Daen and stayed with him for almost 4 years. He then traveled to see Luang Pho Kuay of Wat Khositaram, Chai Nat Province, and stayed with him for another 2 years. Luang Pu Fan also recounted that Luang Pho Kuay studied with Luang Pho Derm, which is how he knew Luang Pho Kuay before. After practicing until he felt confident and ready, and having a heart that enjoyed asceticism, he firmly resolved to embark on a pilgrimage throughout the country, never forgetting the teachings of Luang Pho Derm. During his ascetic journey, he had to memorize all 16 teachings by heart.
Luang Pu Fan began his ascetic journey at around the age of 28 and continued until he was almost 80 years old, when he returned to his birthplace in Nakhon Sawan Province. In total, his ascetic journeys lasted over 40 years.
Initially, he traveled with several monks, but later he went on solitary journeys to various places. Starting from Kanchanaburi, he traveled north, crossing into Myanmar and Laos. Luang Pu even walked as far as Cambodia, near Sa Kaeo Province, before traveling south to the southernmost border of Siam. He then returned to Nakhon Si Thammarat Province before going back to central Thailand, to Samut Prakan Province, and then on to the border of Tak Province. There, he encountered a group of bandits. He recounted that the bandits stole all his belongings and food from his bag. However, he never considered giving up his journey, believing that what was not his was his own; he must have taken it from them in the past, and therefore had to return it. He only kept his robes as his possessions and continued his journey. After that, Luang Pu Fan traveled back through Kamphaeng Phet Province and then returned to Nakhon Sawan Province. During his ascetic journey, Luang Pu Fan studied sorcery and meditation in Laos for a year under Phra Khru Mon, a renowned monk at Tham Bua cave, and other respected masters there. He then returned to practice meditation with Luang Pu Fan Ajaro for five months before continuing his ascetic journey. He met Luang Pho Koon of Wat Ban Rai and stayed with him for three months. He also visited Luang Pho Phit of Wat Khamang, Luang Pho Kaeo and Luang Pho Kan of Wat Khao Kaeo, Luang Pho Khian of Wat Tham Khun Naen, Luang Pho Noi of Wat Nong Pho, Luang Pho Oan of Wat Khok Duea, and Luang Pho Krai of Wat Nong Bua.
Throughout his life in the monastic robes, he resided in many temples, including abandoned temples and forest temples, which he greatly appreciated because he found them to be quiet and suitable for meditation practice. Many years later, he resided at Wat Wang Nam Lat, Phaisali District, Nakhon Sawan Province, for a total of seven years. Later, the villagers in Khok Sa-at Subdistrict, Si Thep District, Phetchabun Province, seeing that he was already 90 years old, invited him to reside at Wat Khao Thamorat, Si Thep District, Phetchabun Province. They also hoped that his merit and blessings would help develop this rural temple to become prosperous. He accepted the invitation and has resided and performed religious duties at Wat Khao Thamorat until the present day. Although he is 90 years old, his health remains strong, and he continues to accept invitations as usual.
Since accepting the invitation to reside at Wat Khao Thamorat, Luang Pu Fan Pasatho has performed religious duties, nurtured Buddhism, and worked to develop the temple to become prosperous. Faithful villagers and disciples frequently travel to pay homage to him. His reputation has begun to spread widely due to his virtuous conduct, simplicity, and his expertise as a master monk who has studied Buddhist magic extensively. He is frequently invited to participate in Buddhist consecration ceremonies.
The amulets he creates are popular among his disciples, who believe in the spiritual power he has bestowed through his blessings. It\'s advisable to acquire them now, as they will become highly sought after and difficult to find in the future due to their enduring value.
