Fantastic vintage E&B Beer and Ale advertising sign from Ekhardt & Becker Brewing Company of Detroit, Michigan.
The colorful hunting scene depicts riders on horseback, a large pack of hunting dogs, and a countryside tavern setting, with the advertising slogan:
“At the End of the Hunt... E&B Beer and Ale”
This exact sign is documented as an American Art Works Inc. of Coshocton, Ohio piece and measures approximately 20" × 15½".
The sign is constructed as tin over cardboard (TOC) and has a great early breweriana look with detailed sporting artwork and strong period colors.
Condition
Overall, this sign still presents very well, but it does show age-related wear.
There are nicks, dings, scratches, and areas of paint loss throughout, including wear around the outer border and scattered surface marks across the illustrated scene.
The cardboard backing shows normal age and storage wear.
Despite the imperfections, the artwork remains highly attractive and the sign has excellent display appeal, especially for a hunting, sporting, or Detroit breweriana collection.
