Description:Beautiful vintage Mid Century brass Chinoiserie-style wastebasket with an elegant scalloped form and richly detailed Asian-inspired scenic decoration extending around the exterior. The warm golden brass surface, shaped rim and intricate imagery give this piece a striking decorative presence, making it especially appealing for Chinoiserie, Hollywood Regency, traditional, Mid Century, Asian-inspired or eclectic interiors.The exterior is arranged in framed scenic panels with finely incised and embossed scenes. One scene features graceful long-legged cranes among foliage, while another shows a dramatic eagle with outstretched wings surrounded by pine branches and a radiant sun. Ornamental scroll borders and additional botanical motifs continue around the body, creating visual interest from virtually every angle.This waste can is extremely well made with welded raised feet and a heavy, solid rolled rim and skirt. The pattern goes all the way around the four scalloped sides, and while hard to capture in photos, is intricate and detailed. The can weighs around 3 pounds, so it\'s nice and substantial. It\'s in good shape with no major dents or scratches. There\'s a little bit of patina, but nothing major. Most of it is still bright and shiny gold brass. I\'d definitely use a trashcan liner/bag to keep it in continued good shape.
