Victorian era sterling silver watch fob whistle bearing British hallmarks including the Lion Passant (sterling standard) and the Chester assay office mark with sword and wheat sheaves. The maker’s mark reads “SM & Co” (Sampson Mordan & Co).
This piece dates to the late 19th century Victorian period and is a genuine English hallmarked silver accessory.
The whistle retains its original antique patina and has not been polished. Surface wear and a few small shallow dents are present, consistent with age and normal use. Hallmarks remain visible, though the date letter is worn and not fully legible.
A classic Victorian gentleman’s accessory that would originally have been worn on a watch chain or fob.
