Victorian Uranium Opaline Glass Biscuit Jar with Original Silver-Plated Mount
This beautiful Victorian uranium opaline glass biscuit jar is an exceptional example of late 19th to early 20th century decorative art glass. The thick encased opaline body displays a beautiful soft yellow-white appearance in normal light and fluoresces a brilliant green under395 nm UV light, making it a striking addition to any uranium glass collection.
The applied hand-worked decoration features a beautifully formed cranberry-red branch with individually applied uranium-green leaves and amber highlights, demonstrating excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail.
The jar measures approximately7.6 inches high (including the finial)and approximately5 inches in maximum diameter.
The original silver-plated lid and collar retain a wonderful untouched antique patina and are beautifully fitted to the encased opaline glass.
Attribution
