This is a beautiful 1970-80 Villalcor brass sundial pocket compass housed in a wood case with a hinged design. The exterior features an ornate brass plate with intricate engravings, while the interior showcases a functional sundial with a string gnomon and decorative details. The piece is compact, measuring approximately 3.5 inches by 2.75 inches.
This is a modern reproduction inspired by antique designs from the 17th or 18th centuries. Made in Spain most likely from the 1970s to the 1980s.
Based on style and craftsmanship, this sundial compass may have been made sometime in the late 20th century, possibly around the 1970s, though the exact age is unknown
• Compass: The compass arrow is present but detached and needs to be reattached. It currently does not spin.
