Vintage 1923 National Geographic Magazine Full Set 12 Issues + Great Wall US Map
Up for sale is a complete full-year collection of 12 issues of The National Geographic Magazine from 1923 (January through December). This remarkable lot is over a century old and contains two of the most iconic and collectible supplements in National Geographic history.
**Two Rare Supplements Pictured & Included:**
- **"The Great Wall of China Near Nankow Pass" Panoramic Print:** Pictured unfolded, this is the historic, multi-panel "yard-long" black-and-white panoramic insert originally from the March 1923 issue. It features incredible sweeping views of the ancient wall and a line of camels traversing the rugged landscape.
- **"United States of America" Map:** This is the legendary 1923 map—the VERY FIRST United States map ever produced and issued by the National Geographic Cartography division. Tucked inside the April 1923 issue, it acts as a cartographic time capsule of the country prior to the interstate highway system.
**Condition Notes:**
All 12 magazines are in honest, solid antique condition with their original iconic yellow covers and intact spines. They display expected age-appropriate wear, edge flaking, and light spine flaking typical of 100+ year-old paper, but remain very sturdy and fully readable. Supplements are well-preserved with sharp folds and minimal wear. Please see photos for exact cosmic condition.
**Collectible Advertisements:**
The back covers feature vibrant, historic 1923 advertisements perfect for framing, including Colgate, Crane Paper, Gruen Watches, Victrola/Victor Talking Machine Company, and Lafayette automobiles.
