Mailed just weeks after the wall street crash of October 1929, this lot offers a stark and fascinating look into the mindset of the American public at the absolute dawn of the Great Depression.Lot Components & Historical Context: - The Original 1929 Slogan Envelope:
Sent by E. Le Roy Cooper, a dealer in Oklahoma agricultural, oil, gas, and mineral lands out of the Commerce Building in Kansas City, MO. To the left of the address block, a bold red-lettered warning stamp screams: \"DON\'T SPECULATE! OWN THE LAND.\" This was a direct, timely response to the devastating stock market crash that occurred only two months prior, urging investors to put their money into tangible property rather than volatile stocks.

- Two (2) \"Bank of Our Lord\" Novelty Checks:
Enclosed in the envelope were these two beautifully printed, unused holiday checks dated December 25, 1929. Visually styled to look like high-end financial bank drafts of the era, they feature bright green holly borders, Christmas bells, and ornate red typography.
- The Text: Drafted from the \"Bank of Our Lord,\" the checks are designed to \"Pay to the Order of Mrs. A. A. Cooper\" a sum of \"Three Hundred and Sixty-Five Days - Peace, Health, Happiness and Prosperity.\" They are numbered No. 865 and feature a printed signature of \"E. Z. Logan.\"
Condition Report: - Envelope: Well-preserved vintage condition. Neatly opened along the left-hand edge. The handwriting is clear and bold. Light, natural surface toning and minor corner wear/creasing consistent with age.
