Rare Vintage 1938 "Alice in Silverland" Mary Pilgrim Lewis Carroll Trial Parody - True 1st Edition
Up for sale is an incredibly rare and hard-to-find piece of vintage advertising and literary history: an authentic, true first edition 1938 softcover copy of "Alice in Silverland: The Story and Trial of Alice" by Mary Pilgrim, illustrated by Louis Farrar.
Published as a unique promotional giveaway by the International Silver Company (Meriden, CT) to accompany their child-sized silverware gift lines, this charming booklet is a playful parody of Alice's courtroom trial from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The storyline transforms traditional characters into animated table cutlery to teach children proper place-setting etiquette. It is beautifully illustrated with custom line art printed in red ink.
