Charming vintage copy of Strawberry Girl by Lois Lenski, published by J. B. Lippincott Company. Copyright 1945 and stated Fifth Impression.
This classic Newbery Medal-winning children’s novel is wonderfully illustrated throughout by Lois Lenski and features the beautiful red-and-green strawberry-patterned endpapers, along with the illustrated Florida map and numerous black-and-white drawings that make these early editions so appealing.
The interior is especially nice for its age, with clean, bright pages and crisp illustrations. No significant writing, scribbling, torn pages, or staining was found during inspection.
The green cloth boards show expected vintage wear, including rubbing, fading to the spine lettering, bumped/frayed wear at the spine ends. No dust jacket is present. The rear endpaper retains an old Gable Brothers Book Store label and a vintage lined inventory/lending card, along with a small handwritten “14.” These have been left completely untouched as part of the book’s history.
A wonderfully atmospheric early copy of one of Lois Lenski’s best-loved regional children’s books — attractive for a Lenski collector, vintage children’s-book collection, or anyone who appreciates classic Florida literature.
