Vintage 1948 "POPPY: The Adventures of a Fairy" Hardcover Children's Book
By Anne Pérez-Guerra
Illustrated by Betty Barclay
Published by Rand McNally & Company, Chicago
Copyright 1942. This copy is identified on the title page as the 1948 edition.
Charming vintage children's story featuring Poppy, a tiny four-inch fairy who finds herself lost in the world of people. Beautifully illustrated throughout with colorful artwork depicting Poppy's adventures.
This original vintage hardcover features a bright red illustrated cover showing Poppy standing on piano keys, along with decorative blue-and-white illustrated vintage condition with age-related wear and imperfections.
The front cover retains its colorful original artwork, with noticeable wear and damage to the upper-left corner, including fraying and exposed material.
The red hardcover has additional rubbing, scuffing, edge wear, and wear along the spine and corners. The rear cover shows surface wear, particularly near the spine.
The interior pages have noticeable age-related yellowing and discoloration consistent with a book of this age.
The illustrated front endpapers contain a handwritten former owner's inscription dated January 8, 1949.
There is visible damage to the decorative endpaper material near the center fold, including tears and separation around the original attachment areas. The interior hinge and binding show signs of wear.
The interior illustrations retain attractive colors, and the photographed text remains readable.
Please carefully review all photographs for the exact condition, including the cover damage, binding wear, endpaper damage, and age-related imperfections.
A charming piece of mid-century children's literature that would make a wonderful addition to a vintage children's book collection, fairy tale collection, or collection of illustrated books from the 1940s.
You will receive the exact book pictured.
Please note: This is an authentic vintage book, not a modern reproduction. It is being sold in its existing condition, with the wear and imperfections shown in the photographs.
