Vintage 1949 American Family Social Life Lot 4 Photos 3x5-4x5 B&W Gelatin Orig
Original vintage 1949 American domestic and social-life photographs on paper, offered as a lot of four black-and-white gelatin-silver snapshot views.
One outdoor portrait shows a woman in checked shirt and trousers seated on a large rock in a grassy field, framed by a stand of leafy trees and open sky in the background.
A second exterior snapshot pictures two smiling young women posed side by side against a fence with chain-link mesh and white railings, with trees and open grounds stretching beyond.
An interior candid view shows a man in a suit seated at a crowded restaurant or club table, turning toward the camera with other diners and decor visible in the softly focused background.
The final photograph presents a family or social gathering around a dining table laid with plates, glasses, and a central floral arrangement, with several adults and a child seated in a domestic dining room.
The prints are black-and-white gelatin-silver photographs on single-weight paper; two have scalloped white borders while the others have straight-cut edges, and backs include a mix of plain paper and VELOX photo-paper watermarks.
The reverse of the rock-portrait view carries a handwritten blue-ink inscription reading \"myself\" and \"Blue Sea,\" and the back of the fence portrait is dated 1949 in pencil near the upper edge.
A separate handwritten slip included with the lot reads \"Vintage American Family Life set of 4 photos ≈ 4\"x5\", ≈ 3.5\"x4.5\", 3\"x5\"\" as a size reference.
The lot consists of four loose unmounted and unframed original photographs only; any brass display stand, handwritten slip used for scale, or other props visible in the listing images are used solely for presentation and are not included.
Actual Measurements: ≈ 4 x 5 in, ≈ 3.5 x 4.5 in, 3 x 5 in.
Condition: Original vintage 1949 American family and social-life snapshot photographs on paper with typical handling and storage wear from age and use. Image surfaces show mild age toning, scattered small marks, and light surface scuffs. The outdoor rock portrait has a prominent vertical crease through the lower image area and a trimmed, creased upper-right corner. Other prints display slight corner softening and a gentle curl from previous storage but no tears or paper loss. Backs carry handwritten inscriptions including \"myself\" and \"Blue Sea\" and the date 1949 along with VELOX photo-paper watermarks and handling marks, and all four photos remain structurally sound for album or display use.
