Vintage 1957 Hand Carved Mallard Duck Decoy – Signed Folk Art Wood Carving
Beautiful vintage hand-carved and hand-painted wooden mallard drake, signed by the maker and dated 1957.
Measuring approximately 17 inches long, this full-size carving features a striking stylized profile with an elongated carved bill, sculpted head and feather details, rich green head, warm brown body, contrasting wing panels, and hand-painted feather accents.
The underside is hand signed and clearly dated “1957.” The first name appears to read “Charles,” while the remainder of the signature is difficult to decipher. We have not positively identified the artist and are therefore making no specific maker attribution.
This is an especially attractive example of mid-century American folk art with excellent display presence. Its distinctive hand-carved form and nearly 70-year-old signed and dated provenance make it an appealing piece for collectors of vintage duck decoys, waterfowl carvings, sporting collectibles, Americana, hunting lodge decor, and folk art.
