This is exactly how a parent marked a child's gear for Little League in the 1970s: team name, jersey number, last name. The inscription has faded gracefully with age, consistent with 50 years of storage, and exactly what authenticity looks like.
George R. wore #14 on his Little League cap at the precise moment Jim Rice was making #14 legendary at Fenway Park, just miles away. Rice joined the Sox in 1974.

Professionally cleaned and crown and brim reshaped and fully restored. Embroidery vivid and intact. Green undervisor inscription remains legible. Interior sweatband shows honest age wear including a small hole in the lining. This is a cap that was worn and loved, then carefully stored for half a century.
