Vintage Aarong hand-embroidered cotton textile, made in Bangladesh.
Beautiful traditional Bangladeshi nakshi kantha-style embroidery with extremely detailed multicolor stitching. Features a large central medallion surrounded by flowers, birds, animals, people, trees and decorative borders.
Believed to date from approximately the 1980s–1990s, although the exact age is unknown.
Original label is still attached and reads:
• Arong
• 100% Cotton
• Made in Bangladesh
• Wash Separately
Approximate measurements:
• 43" x 40"
The embroidery covers much of the textile and has an incredible amount of detail and handwork throughout. The reverse shows the extensive stitching.
CONDITION:
Vintage/preowned condition. There is some light staining/discoloration in areas. I do not know if the stains will come out with cleaning and have not attempted to remove them. There may also be some loose threads/stitching and other normal signs of age and use.
