Vintage Birmingham Silver Co. BIM10 Six-Piece Tea and Coffee Service
Complete six-piece tea and coffee service by Birmingham Silver Company, made in Connecticut circa 1957-1970. Silverplate over copper, baluster vessels, cast foliate, and scrolling acanthus handles and feet. Matched set, all pieces have Birmingham crown and boxed BSC trademark with \'Silver on Copper\'.
Service includes tilting hot-water kettle with matching stand, spirit burner, coffee pot, teapot, covered two-handle sugar bowl, cream jug, and waste/slop bowl. This discontinued hollowware design is cataloged in replacement-market references as Birmingham BIM10. No tray is present or included. This set is in excellent shape overall and has received a gentle polish only. No dings, no bad scratches, interiors of the 3 kettles seem scarecely if ever used, and remaining pieces all quite nice. Light surface wear is present, but it\'s a very pretty set.
Condition
- Faint surface marks and light wear under close inspection.
- The three large vessels are remarkably clean inside, with no evident beverage residue or interior oxidation.
- The interiors of the cream jug, sugar bowl, and waste bowl retain a slightly darker complexion with light surface marks and localized toning.
- Two localized areas of thinning silver plate on the tilting kettle. One on the cover, and one on the body. It\'s not super obvious in the photos, but on examination, you can see a slightly warmer area with higher reflection, very minimal and not through to copper.
- Spirit-burner wick appears unburned and remains in like-new condition.
- Small amounts of darker oxidation remain in recessed portions of the handles and ornament, with traces of previously dried wax noticed in places.
- All covers seat properly, the kettle rests correctly in its stand, and the individual pieces sit flat.
- Lightly polished by hand only. No machine polishing or aggressive surface work performed.
